Study frequently for short periods of time. Its proven to help you remember better than one long study session. =] Hope that helps!

depends on the material, it might be suited to flash cards, and making flash cards is helpful even before you use them. Tell somebody what you've learned, which works well for material like history (tell the story) or any short answer question. you remember 80% of what you teach, and that's similar. avoid reading the material, recognising it, and assuming you know it... cover it up and test yourself studying in test conditions (quiet room, not snacking) will make recall easier during the test

if i write it down a few times, my hand hurts. but i remember it better! and, if they are just vocabulary words or something of the sort, make it into a saying. (example: dog, cat, house, red. The dog chased the cat to the red house.)

Having a pictue in my mind related to the word, or inventing one in my head that helps me figure out the meaning. It's one of the best ways I can remember the meaning of things. Of course taking breaks also helps.

repeat it out loud or write it down several times teaching someone else the information you are supposed to learn also helps smash it into your brain better

I like to read it over and over again and sometimes, I'll write it down, or say it or somehow make a game out of it- but I have a real good memory when It comes to numbers I can see a number once or hear a number once and I'll remember it...

The one that always stuck with me, aside from repetition and saying things out loud, is to take frequent breaks. We were taught that the average attention span is about nine minutes. If you stretch, look at the walk, stand up or take any kind of small break about every ten minutes, you're brain gets a chance to rest and recharge.

Repetition. I work with children with Autism and we teach them the same things over and over to help them learn them. The next step is maintenance. You maintain the ones you have already learned by rotating them into your study schedule!
