Why won't Pontiac Grand Prix turn over?

2000 pontiac grand prix GT wont start, no electricity at all. Barely touch the battery cable and alarm goes off, car will start. Turn off, dead again until touch battery cable, which makes a quiet sound like motor running. Dont no how to reset theft

  • Answer:

Check your connection on the Hot side of the battery. It may appear to be tight and okay but corrosion can build in the end of the cable or at the connection. Take of the terminal and clean it. Look in the handbook for the car, it will give step by step instructions on resetting your security system.

I have a the same car and I recently had this issue, but alarm wasn't affected. I found my problem to be the battery cables. I have never replaced my cables since I buy the car new in 2000. I changed the battery terminals first and that resolved the issue, but I found that the battery cables themselves was corroding inside.
