What does it take to be home schooled?

What kind of test do I need to take to go to college if I was Home-Schooled (ex.ACT,SAT,ETC.)?

  • Answer:

Contact the schools you're interested in - I'm sure they are familiar with home schoolers and will be able to point you in the right direction. (The requirements probably differ from one school to another.)

It depends on the school to which you are applying. Most colleges evaluate home-schooled applicants on an individual basis. The SAT is always a safe bet; though if you are weak in English or math, you may want to opt for the ACT (which offers other subject areas to balance out the scores). It would not hurt to take both -- especially if you test well. Call the admissions counselor at the colleges that interest you; they will tell you exactly what you need to submit for review. Good luck in school!

An Educated Optimist

The SAT has really helped me out in college If your on the west I would say the ACT. Might be good to do both. Also make sure you get a good record that you did graduate from High school. I was joined with this homeschooling group that was recognized as a private school but had problems getting in to colleges because of it. They kept wanting me to have a GED.
