I got a dog for my girlfriend and I the day before valentines day. She took it to her house because I was working a lot during the day. We broke up and she won't give me the dog back. What can I do?

The dog was a gift. You do not ask for or should expect to get a gift back. She has bonded with the dog and I am sure the dog loves her. Sit back and be thankful that the dog has a good home. I am sorry that you broke up. When giving a gift in the future, keep this in mind that you don't get it back ever. If the break-up was not ugly, you can ask for "visitation" with the dog from time to time. She may permit that.

I know people may not agree with this, but revisit the question you just asked, "I got a dog for my girlfriend." Yes, you paid for it. Yes, you looked for it, but you got it for her. Unfortuantely, sometimes in life, you can't get back what you already gave...There is nothing you can do, except beg for it back. It belongs to her.

Nothing. You let her take it to her house to care for it it's now her dog. It was only just visting you.

It wasn't a gift to her. I bought it for myself and she took it upon herself to take the dog to her grandparents so that they could "take care of it while we were at work" When i asked her to bring it back even in the relationship she refused. is there any legal action that i can take?
