Can I cut down trees in my own garden?

Dose anyone know how to stop Meadow Larks from eating my moms saskatoons? There has been no saskatoon pie for 3 years! She wants to cut the trees down to stop the birds from pooping on the rest of her garden. Any ideas?

I shall have to look up what a saskatoon is, but it must be delicious. I would say, like any other fruit tree, cover it in bird mesh, which can be bought from hardware stores or gardening places. We just finished mulberry season in Australia, and I had mulberry stains all over my cement from the fruit bats. However, I am quite willing to give them the upper levels I can't reach, if they leave me the lower ones.
