How do we control our bladder during sleep?

How do you know if its time to put your dog to sleep?? ..My dog will be 10yo in Sept.,she is a shepard mix. Recently she has lost control of her bladder, her temper &has lumps all over her body..Am I being selfish in keeping her around?

Your Vet can answer that for you. My dogs have lived to 12 with the proper care. My last dog was on heart medication, pain medication, Lasix for congestive heart failure, and Proin for incontinence. He did very well until they last week when I knew it was time. Ask the Vet about Proin, it absolutely stopped the leaking of urine the first day. I was able to get rid of the diapers.

I would say, it depends on what the lumps are. I have a 12 year old lab who is covered in lumps. I was concerned that it was cancer, but when I took him to the vet, they aspirated the lumps and they were all just fatty lumps, so not painful. If the dog is in pain I would consider putting them down, but if not and you can live with the bladder control issues (they do sell doggy daipers, I wouldn't say you were being selfish. What does your vet say?

Talk to your vet. Ask for their opinion.

To me you can feel when its time to let them go. I mean bladder problems alot of dogs get that and doesnt mean its time. Usually when they can barely walk anymore and seem to have no life in them anymore is when its time. It depends when you feel like its time.

It sounds like it is time.

Treat her as though she were human. When you get old, or your friend gets old & has a few health problems will You prefer to be put down??? I believe in Nature & that God decides when it's time for lives to end.
