What's wrong with my car speakers?

In my car, i thought my speakers were blown out...b/c sound wouldnt come out loud...just very softly when i had my volume full blast...but now that i bought new speakers..i still have the same problem...can someone give me an idea of whats wrong?

  • Answer:

If your radio is still factory it might just be time to change it out. Loose wires around the speakers can make that happen too. Check the connections around the speakers and in the back of the radio/cdplayer

What kind of car is it? Is it the stock radio or aftermarket? Factoring these questions into the equasion, it could be a few things. If it is a factory deck, it could have very low power output. Turning it all the way up plays it "louder" but just not truly loud. If this is the scenario, you may want to try a new deck. If it is an aftermarket deck, you could have a factory amp. This amp could have very low power output. If this is the scenario, you can run speaker wire to each speaker from the deck directly, and bypass the stock wiring all together. This will eliminate a low-power factory amp entirely. You can test this theory by just connecting speaker wire to the outputs from your deck and plugging them into the speaker without running the wires (take the speaker out of the mount, and connect to the terminals leaving the wires loose and not tucked under anything). If this changes the output, you might consider running dedicated speaker wire. It can also be other things, but these would be the first things I would try.
