Will 135 watt 4 ohm car stereo speakers work with an old Realistic STA-450 am/fm home stereo system which had 8 ohm speakers. One old speaker smoked and quit.

Answer:
To get the same sound quality, you'll need 8 ohms. (unless the stereo system has a "8 or 4-ohm" selection). Regardless, you'll still need to make the speakers the same (both 8 or both 4). A 4 ohm speaker risks damage to the 8-ohm amplifier when you turn it up above 'medium'. You could try 2 '4 ohm' in series.
