Where should I go for a wheel alignment?

My steering wheel shakes when i drive and the car moves to the right when i let go. i had a wheel alignment done but it still the same?

  • Answer:

The frame of your car might be bent. I had my wheels realigned and it didn't help, because of this.

This is due to a wheel imbalance, that is to say the wheel needs dynamic balancing, as it pulls to the right, it is probably the right hand front wheel that needs doing, other causes could be a sticking or binding brake caliper, again on the front right or worn cv joint or stub axle or worn wheel bearing.

If u get a balance and that styll doesnt do nuttin check the steering rack.. dependin on ur car u should b able to see right uner the hood behind the engine.. make sure that the bushing arent blown out.. had that happen to my intrepid car always pulled to the right.. not a cheap fix tho.. ull need to buy a new steerin rack. (about $150 - $200 even tho ull get $70 back once u return ur old core) plus labor about $250 job unless u can do it ya self

Possibly two unrelated issues... (if it's not a broken tire belt). Tire balance will cause the shimmy, worn suspension components can make it more sensitive to inbalance. Many McPhearson Strut vehicles can be very sensitive to tire balance issues. A vehicle will pull to the side with the most positive camber. Even if both front wheels are within "spec". Let's say the camber spec is +.5 degrees to -.3 degrees... well if the right side is at +.5 and the left side is at -.3 both wheels are within 'spec' but the difference can be enough to induce a "pull". Also driver weight and vehicle load can play an issue as suspensions tend to "decamber" as they are loaded. Tire pressure variation can also induce pull. Another possibility can be variation in tire rolling resistance and most front drive cars will torque-steer to the right on hard acceleration. Try rotatting the tires and see if the "pull" changes.

it sounds like tire needs balanced or maybe a broken radial belt in you tire.when getting alignment they should have test drove and gave you detail problems if this didnt correct it.
