I have the same exact problem. I've tried the "power off" technique but still no result. I hooked up the PS3 back to HD through the HDMI cable and it works fine. But when I use the AV cables (on another tv) I get no picture what so ever.

Turn your system off. When it shows just the red light, hold your finger on the power button for a few seconds. It should beep when you do that. After it beeps, all the original picture settings get restored.
