How can I check a full company report?

ONE COMPANY GENERATE A 1099 on my SSN,but they didn't give any check of that amount, then can i report that amount to IRS while i am filing my taxes,I am working on H1b,Is it effect to my greencard processing?

  • Answer:

If they are reporting income for you to the IRS, but you didn't actually get paid, that's bad. You will be responsible for the taxes on that money, even though you didn't receive it. You should contact them and tell them to file a revised 1099 showing the correct amount, even if it's $0. I don't know why this would affect your immigration status, though -- unless you're working illegally as a contractor and you're concerned that the INS will discover that from you tax return. If there really wasn't any income from 1099 work, there's nothing for you to report, just get the company to correct their filing. The INS isn't going to dig into what the IRS has been told, they're going to look at your tax return, I think.
