How can I find out how old a mobility scooter is?

I know some people need mobility scooters to get around, but do you find they take up all the pavement and almost push you into the road? is it me ...or are they lethal to pedestrians with their scooter rage?

  • Answer:

Those damn things have a tendancy og sneaking up on you too and scaring you half to death. Its like I'm in the street or something.

I catch up with them on my post office bike and then nick all their cat food out of the shopping bag at the back. They've never noticed me behind them yet , must turn their hearing aids down when they go out !!

As much as I hate to admit it, you are right, (sometimes), about the scooter rage. I went to the mall with my Mom and step-dad, (both upper 60's, step-dad in scooter), and I literally had to leave them because, he was RUNNING OVER anyone that didn't move when he beeped! I told him he was not "entitled" and that someone was going to sue him for running into them. He said, "they can't get blood from a turnip", (meaning, of course, that he had nothing for them to get). I was terribly embarrassed. Most of the people were moving to their side, but he still ran into them!

I use a scooter to get around but it's me who is usually looking out for everyone else. I have to stop every 10 feet or so to let someone who just walked in front of me, walk out of the way. In my experience, it's people not in scooters who have the higher ground (in most cases). It's old people in scooters you have to watch out for. They don't care about anyone or anything besides getting home in time to watch "Matlock".

I think we are in the age of mobility scooters that we were with Model-T cars in the early 1900's. This has led to this problem of mobility scooters taking over the walkways without any regard to pedestrians -- just like automobiles started taking over the roads where horse carriages used to drive. There are a few countries that have a few rules about mobility scooters but they are mainly about mobility scooters driving on the street -- not about who has the right-of-way on the sidewalk. The general rule is: When mobility scooters drive on the walkway, they must abide by pedestrian rules and pedestrians have the right-of-way. When they drive on the street they must abide by the rules of automobiles on the street. It's likely to get a lot worse before better, until government realizes that it is a big problem and something needs to be done about it. Glenn http://www.mobility-scooter-reviews.com
