Why do people no longer drink out of the tap? Why is it all just bottled water now? If you live in an area where the water might not taste great, why not get a filter for you tap. You save a lot of money and the filter works..I have a friend who has one

Personally we drink tap water, it is better than bottled water, but the manufacturers of bottled water make you afraid, so people drink bottled water, this is a capitalist country.

Paranoia. LOL But here, the tap water has become really dangerous. There might be some stuff that can get past the filter so they're not taking any chances. I had a friend before who got typhoid fever from drinking tap water.

It depends on your city's filtration/chemicals in the water. Some tap water taste good, but is high on some chemicals. Usually city send an insert with you bill showing the levels of chemicals in water. I personally started drinking only bottled water or filtered, but only after having Cancer. I feel that if you are confortable with tap water, then drink it. Some people can't deal with taste of water. In some cities it tastes like river water.

I drink outta the tap. I have tasty well water. I only drink bottled at work cuz they have city water and I think that's gross.

We don't drink tap water at our home because of the floride (Hydrofluorosilisic acid) This is a highly toxic and corrosive industrial waste by-product of phosphate fertilizer manufacturing plante. Hydrofluorosilicic acid contains trace amounts of arsenic, lead, mercury and hydrogen fluoride residue. This is what the US Government calls fluoride!! This is poisening your body!!! This is also mass medication.

Filtering didn't work for us at our old house. We didnt' have city water or chlorine or fluoride to worry about, we had really really hard bad tasting water and nothing other than extreme and expenisve treatments for our whole well system would work. We HAD to use bottled water. Our water would just make you gag. It was okay for boiling spaghetti in, things like that, but for everything you would actually be consuming it had to be bottles. But other than one other family, I've never met anyone else who had such bad water as we did so I don't know why people don't just filter their water. It was the cost that kept us from doing stuff to our well, over $2000 worth. But a filter doens't cost that much.

It's something psychological. Even if we use a filter for it, there's the belief that "it's still not clean enough..." Better safe than sorry, something like that.

I just read 2 weeks ago that bottled water sales are way down. People see it as not environmentally friendly. More people are drinking from the tap.

Marketing, it's all marketing.
