Can she work another job when on maternity leave?

I'm out of wk on Maternity leave however i've been offered a really great job offer. When should I resign from my current employer during maternity leave or come back and work 2 weeks and than resign. Should it be written or verbal? Please some one help.

  • Answer:

Congratulation on being a mom....anywho, i would feel bad collecting money from someone who was good to me while i was working for them only to come back and say, "peace out" BUT that is something a lot of women do, not only for a new job but they collect the money until they should return and then say they are going to stay home with the baby. Do what you feel is right. Also i wouldn't write it, i would tell them in person. Good luck

Has your current employer been good to you, or is the work you did there important to your future resume? If so, I would definitely call your supervisor and ask to meet in person. You can tell them that you have been offered an opportunity you cannot refuse, and would like to make the transition as smooth as possible for them by staying the two weeks and helping train a replacement (or whatever needs to be done). If they haven't been good employers (and you don't need their stinking reference!), submit a written resignation and move on. Best of luck to you and congrats on the job offer!!
