How did plants evolve?

How did photosynthesis evolve? How did plants make sugar before photosynthesis? Do any plants use that process today instead of photosynthesis?

  • Answer:

photosynthesis started when chlorophyll (that used to be a kind of bacteria) had a symbiotic relationship with the plant cells. Before photosynthesis, there were several hypothesis on how the plants had nutrients. One of them would be a heterotroph hypothesis. The idea is that the heterotrophic "chlorophyll-less plants" took in organic molecules from primitive oceans that contain loads of essential amino acids, fats, proteins and even sugars. and i don't think plants uses that process anymore as the "nutrient-filled primitive ocean" is no longer available.
