What is the difference among image, photograph and picture?

Can you convert a picture stored in your comp. from a bitmap image into a jpeg image? I tried to upload a new picture for my avatar but it wouldn't except bitmap images. What is the difference?

    The difference is that bitmap images are large files and jpeg is much smaller, so it doesn't cause such a drain on AB. You've gotten answers, but I'm going to step by step you, to make it a little easier. Find the image and then right-click on it. Choose open with...then select Paint. Go to the top of the page and select File, Save As.. When the box pops up, go to 'save as type', drop down the menu and choose JPEG. You should now have a 2nd image with the same name, in the same place, with a file extension. .jpg

I recall having BMP only available for some inexplicable reason, on an older operating system/computer, in the Paint program. If that is the particular problem, an easy fix is to use Irfanview or some similar, free, image manipulation software.

Yes open it with MS Picture Manager and you can EXPORT from the FILE menu in a number of formats and scales :)

Bitmap image can be easily converted to jpeg using windows paint.Just save as jpeg file to cut down on file size drastically.Bitmap images are usually big files with no compression applied Jpeg images are compressed images leading to smaller file sizes with maybe minor loss in quality

To convert from bitmap to jpeg, use saves file as jpeg or use and export function to convert bitmap file to jpeg.
