Dish network remote not working for receiver?

Can someone tell me in easy to understand terms how to connect my Dish Network dual receiver, a LiteOn vcr/dvd combo unit and my new Toshiba lcd tv? I spent hours working on it and can't get anything to work. I have no picture on my

  • Answer:

the dish network receiver should have 2 rca plugs in the back. the standard co-ax cable. there are 2 so you can watch one channel and record another if its a dvr or watch one channel with a picture in picture of another. you cant use just a cable splitter for this. you need a multiswitch. now to the tv: from the receiver there should be a set of blue, green and red plugs... and a corresponding red and white. this is component video. the rgb being video... the red and white being audio. this gives you better picture when not hd. hook those cables to corresponding colors on the tv. it should say something like input 1 for example. now do the same thing for the combo. match the colors from the unit to the tv. should say something like input 2. now on the tv you must switch the input to watch dish and watch dvd/vhs.
