Are there free online communication classes?

My son doesn't do most of the work in all of his classes in 8th grade. We have tried everything from grounding him, taking away all fun stuff, frequent communication with teachers and downright threats. Nothing seems to work! What can we do?

Well, now that you find yourself here, take him on a one-on-one fun outing; let him know that you love him no matter what. This is really important - the need to know that you are loved and wanted no matter what. Your aim should be to find out what he like and don't like about school and schoolwork; you must start to have lots of open dialogue without him feeling that you are not open to seeing his side of the matter. Basically, you need some piece of information to work with him on and lots of opportunity to encourage him with. Start telling him what he does right, especially in or about school.
