Christians: When you say you are saved, what are you saved from exactly?

How come there are Christians who feel the need to say the date they became saved? What's the point? Does the date you become saved really matter all that much?

  • Answer:

It's a new life worth taking note of. I know people who celebrate their date like their other birthday.

For me, yes... it is the day God turned my life around! It is even more important to me than my birthday, because it is the day I truly learned how to live!

To them, it signifies the beginning of their new life as a believer. It's like celebrating a birthday.

When a person is saved---The Bible says there are born again. That is the saved process---You are no longer the same person inside you have become "new" because you asked Christ to come into your heart and show you how to live according to the Word. It is a birthday. And it makes a wonderful difference in the lives of believers.

Maybe they need to know how long they have been saved..to sort of balance the books or whatever.

I guess it's like celebrating a birthday and worth remembering. I was raised a Catholic so I am not saved the same way as other Christians but I think it's kind of cool for someone to mark that date down in their brain as a reminder that that was the day they let Jesus in.
