What is a National Advanced Placement Scholar?

I need to do good on my community college placement test so I can get in advanced classes and my credits will transfer after 2 years. I did bad on my SAT and am concerned that I will not get into advance courses. Are placement tests hard?

  • Answer:

The purpose of a placement test is to assess what you already know and put you in a class that will teach you the next thing. They are not designed to be super hard tests, just to measure whether or not you have learned the material. That means that the beginning of the test should be easy, and it should get progressively harder. They will allow you to enter classes that are the level above the last one in which you were successful on the test. So, basically, if you are trying to get into classes for which you are really not ready, you will think the placement test is hard. However, if you just do your best and understand that you need to learn the things you don't already know well, you will be fine. It shouldn't be difficult until you get to the things you don't know, or don't completely understand. The tests are designed to get you to those things, so don't let it discourage you. If you don't happen to get into the advanced classes, that's ok. It's better to learn and do well than it is to just push your way through college and barely earn a degree you don't really understand. Good luck!
