Answer:
If she is truly studying with the goal of being a doctor and not just putzing- yes, you should support her. Keep in mind this is a short-term thing- not something that will last the rest of your marriage. If you're separate in money, why are you married? You're supposed to share everything- one life now! On the other hand, depending her workload at school, there might be chances for her to get a very small part-time job. See if there's a possibility to work more efficiently- I'm a full-time student that still works, but I have learned to be very efficient with my time. But, especially since this is not forever, stay with her and support her- keep in mind that soon she'll be making much better money than you, likely!

As a married woman, I recently graduated from college. I attended full-time, anywhere from 12 to 18 credits/semester. I attended classes during the summer as well. My husband did not earn enough to support us both, so instead of quitting my full-time job, I dropped 15 hours per week and worked 25 hours. Busy does not even begin describe life during those 3 1/2 years. Housework suffered, but I learned how to manage my time. All turned out well, and I graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor degree. Your support is what she needs most, whether it is financial or otherwise. Pre-med classes are tough, and she will need lots of time to study. Many students work a few hours a week, but she'll have to be careful and not overdo. Good luck to you both!

If you're both happily married and will continue to be so. And if she is serious about being a doctor, then yes, be a gentleman about it and pay for everything. :) +5

I would support her efforts, but she would have to promise not to leave me when she becomes a Dr. and starts making all that money!
