One day my hamster was lying down on its cage, i thought it was dead so i picked it up. It was moving awkwardly, falling, tripping, and its eyes were closed. i tried to keep it warm by wrapping it around a cloth. the next day it died. how did it die?

Sounds like the hamster had a stroke - they do have them sometimes. They can also be subject to heart trouble. We just recently lost our little black bear hamster, Scooter; she was only a year and a half old. Now one of her babies, who is 17 months old, has had the same shaking problem her mom did, but she hasn't died. She still has laboured breathing but is still eating and drinking, so she's hanging in there. It was good to wrap it up - they like to feel safe like in a den or nest. You made it comfortable for its last days and hours; there wasn't anything more that you could have done. They usually die quickly once they get sick.

idk. honestly sometimes they just die for no apparent reason. peaches' first litter, i kept about half of them for awhile, and a female died at 4 months, a male at 6 months. i checked for wettail both times, but nope. just one of life's great mysteries, i figure.

You would need a vet to tell you for sure.

was he lving in a good enviroment? If not you shoudl have provded him but better food, new water every day and a nice home. if you were doing all these things he may have just died of old age. How old is he?

You didn't as one answer said "scrached him out". I think that meant stretched but either way it's not true. Have had many hamsters. Was he old? Was it warm where he was kept. Hamsters don't like cold. It could've been something as simple as a "bug" or cold he caught. They are very tiny and it doesn't take much. Rest assured though, it wasn't something you did.

That's the exact same thing that happened to mine, it died the next day. It is probably because it hasn't been active and has been asleep a lot. When it is sleeping, it sleeps for a while unless you wake it up. Mine was sleeping for about a week. Their eyes muscles get used to the motion of being asleep and couldn't open, And somehow he got sick and died. That's probably what happened to yours to.
