Why does a video play the picture but has no sound?

I'm trying to make a picture slideshow in windows movie maker but it will only play the sound when I try to play the video. Why is it just showing a black screen?

    Hmm, that's interesting, so I tryed making a Slideshow myself, added couple of pictures and added a music file and ran it. Each picture was shown 5 sec and the music played sync, no problems. So I ask you, do you have proper video codecs installed? (Try CCCP [Combined Community Codecs Pack] if not) If you added the audio file into the timeline, did it appear below the pictures? It must be there to play it while pictures are showed.
