Do you think luck is more prevalent than skill in poker?

I just did an online poker tournament... there was 2000 entries....I finished 23rd. Is this skill or luck from your opinion? I like to think i have skill.

there were 2000 people, and you finished 23? that's definitvely skill... I THOUGHT I had some skill and have finished much worse, so you definitvely have a lot of it :) congratz... maybe you'll finish better on the next one!!

Poker is part luck, and part skill. At least, individual games are. A person with no luck and lots of skill, in the long run, will be a good poker player even if he finished #1000. A person with lots of luck and no skill could easily finish #1, but over the course of his 'career' would suck.

The Special One

I think both! (I like to believe it's skill too!)

If it was your first ever tournament, I would lean towards luck a lot more, but if you have played multiple tournaments I would say your skill is pretty good.

Skill <- You -> Luck ... you had good hands... and you had bad hands... but to finish 23rd with no skill is to have alot of good hands and only a few bad hands... where do you stand?
