Oil search companies, mining of all kinds, structural integrity consultant in earthquake zones, science teach in high school. Advanced degree would be a good idea.

Depends on what you want to do. Oil is a big employer. Wouldn't be too hard to get a job with service companies and work up from there. Look up mudlogging companies. Not the sexy end of the geological body, but hasn't done me too badly. Pay might be bad for a while though, but gets up to £200 a day eventually. Leads onto wellsiting (£500 or so a day), or into the office as operations, which can help in many fields.
