How do I used Outlook Express?

Does Outlook 2007 have an Identity log on like Outlook Express? When we used Outlook Express each user was prompted for a password but with Outlook2007 we can't figure out how to use the Identity log on? So that each user is not reading someone elses mail

  • Answer:

In Outlook 2007 (and all prior versions of Outlook), security is something for Windows to handle -- each users' data is stored in their own private data tree under the c:/Documents and Settings folder. Outlook uses .PST files to store incoming mail. Since each user should have their own Windows account, there's no need for a secondary login just to get to their email -- once they log in to Windows, they're cool. But if you want someone to confirm their mail server password each time they retrieve mail, all you have to do is NOT set the password in the email configuration properties... then Outlook will prompt for it when retrieving mail.
