How to tell if you may get the job from the interview?

I have no sales experience. I managed to get an interview to a job where sales isn't the main part, but it is there. I've given my resume, so they know I have no sales experience, yet they will ask: "tell us about your sales experience", how do I answer?

  • Answer:

Well, here's a chance for you to show your potential as a salesperson. If a customer asks you a question whose answer you do not know, you have to answer in terms of something you do know. For example, you could talk about similar activities to sales (like customer service), the attributes that are required in sales and how you got them, etc. Just remember, do not lie. "Tell us about your sales experiences." "Well -- while I have never directly been a salesperson, I have ample experience conversing with and convincing clients. At my previous job, where I worked as a _____, I interacted with consumers in a ______ way, which closely mirrors the role of a salesperson. ...."
