How do I copy multiple file names?

Is there any way to copy the file and folder names that are in a folder into a text or Word file?

  • Answer:

Open a command prompt window (Start... Accessories... Command Prompt). The Command Prompt window will open in your Documents and SettingsCurrent User folder. If the folder that you want the listing of is within that folder type dir folderyouwant and hit Enter, where folderyouwant is substituted with the name of that folder. Type dir > list.txt and hit enter. A file called list.txt will be created in that folder that you will be able to open in a word processor or text editor. If the folder is elsewhere on the disk type cd to go to the root of the drive and then type dir folderyouwant > list.txt
