Do you not lend money to your friends because you believe it could jeopardize your friendship?

Answer:
No. I lend money to friends, knowing that they'll pay me back when they can. If I know they can't then I consider it a gift :)

I've made it a "rule" that if I "offer" friends or family money, i see it as a "gift", not a loan. This way i don't expect it back, and if they feel the need to give it back, then thats just a nice surprise. This rule also limits myself because i won't offer it if i know i can't do without it.

My friend is the only person I can trust to give it back to me. I don't lend it to him for 2 reasons. First he doesn't need it and second it is a headache for him and me to worry about it.

Absolutely. I never lend money to friends OR family. For family, it would have to be an extreme case but normally not. Money and friends DO NOT mix. Period. If anything happens, your relationship will never be the same. It is difficult to repair a friendship when money has come between you. I've seen it too many times so that is my general rule. NO money to be lent to friends and even family, barring an extreme case.

I dont lend money to my friends, if they need it, I will give it to them, if they pay me back, great, if they dont, great. I find, that I am much happier with doing it this way.

No, i lend money a lot, but I guess i am reluctant, but that is because i am stingy, not because it would jeopardise a friendship... But i don't have a huge amount of money, so it's only ever really a few quid or bus fair...

No I'll lend money to my friends. You just have to keep in mind that you don't lend anything that you can't afford to lose.

I only have friends I trust. I will lend or give to them whatever I can if they ask and then let it go.

A friend "offered" to lend me the equivalent of about 2 months salary so I could get the deposit necessary to get a loan for buying a house! That sum I paid back within weeks! Then, years later, I asked for the same person to lend me a year's salary, a considerable sum. They did. I needed that loan for a large investment. All my savings as well as this loan went into it. Luck was with me and the investment multiplied ten-fold. Thanks to a trusting friend, I made a considerable profit. The ultimate twist in the story is that when I wanted to repay my dues, I was told that it was not necessary, it xas a gift.
