There are legal fees involved, since a judge has to authorize a name change. I would consult an attorney or your local legal aid society.

Check with an attorney in your state, or you might check it out online. Some states allow you to do the paperwork yourself, some states, like mine, require you have an attorney do it. There will prolly be some court costs involved.

In California you can change your name without any fuss or muss. You simply start using the new name on your legal documents, driver's license, or whatever, and it's yours. Out West the atmosphere is much nicer I think :) I live in North Carolina and it's a "cold" place :( Thanks though
