What are the weirdest Christmas traditions out there for America?

Hi, i am a 31yr old mum from the UK. I have a 4 yr old son & would love for my family to experience a proper American Christmas. This has always been my dream, to come to America and join in the Christmas traditions the American way. Can anybody help?

    OK. You are insane. The Point of an "Old Fashioned" U.S. Christmas is to spend more money than you can afford, build yourself up to a toxic stress level, make more demands on yourself, your family, your friends than a human can stand... Once you have done that you can corrupt your child into a greedy little "I want this, I want that" monster... Remove any actual religious significance from the whole to-do.... Top this off with over eating and what the hey... drink till the pain goes away... All the while clutching a copy of Martha Stewart's Living and dreaming of next year....

Your key words were "proper and traditions" and by the use of those words are you talking about the "real" traditions? There is a discussion forum in delphi forums called "The Hunting Club", it is exactly that, a hunting discussion club that has NO vulgarity, sex, porno, or ANYTHING that is NOT suitable for children. You are most welcome to go there and find the host of the forum and post a note and begin. It might take a while but you might find help at least in some ways. Through discussions they can find out exactly what you are looking for and then find ways that can help you. The forum is heavily moderated and filters out the wazoo so you can feel that it is fairly safe from predators and those who like to cause disruptions and such.
