Is it possible to play music through my ipod speakers?

I have my speakers plugged into my computer and i tried to play music but no sounds are coming out. I checked my sounds and setting and it shows that i have no speakers. i even plugged my speakers to my ipod and it worked. why won't it work on my computer

    Are u sure u have your speakers plugged into the right jack on the back of your computer? Speaker plugs are usually color coded. Most are green and it goes into the green sound out jack.

have you updated or tried reinstalling the drivers for the sound card in the computer. thats what it sounds like to me.
