I was reading an article today about a lesbian couple who were showing PDA at a Seattle baseball game. They were asked to stop. They felt they were discriminated against because of their sexuality. Any thoughts?

I've always seen straight couples showing PDAs in public, and they are often much more lewd than a simple kiss. And never once do I witness or hear about them being asked/told to stop or asked to leave. And yes, I've seen such behavior in front of families with kids. Why don't people make a big stink about straight couples "making out" in public? If it were a straight couple, no one would have said anything. And I go to ballgames and see straight couples kiss in the stands. Hell, they usually have a "kiss cam" in between innings and encourage it to be displayed on the big screen!

If they were asked to not show PDA while heterosexuals were allowed to show PDA, then it is discrimination. If both homosexuals and heterosexuals were asked to not show PDA then it was not discrimination. I do not know enough of the situation to decide. Personally, I do not like PDA around me other than such as hand holding and a light kiss. Based on that it does not sound like discrimination. ------------edit again Ok, I read in a comment thread where the stadium only stops REPORTED PDA's. . There is discrimination because PDA's are not being stopped equally if the stadium responds only the reports of a bigoted populace. By acting on a bigoted report they are acting on bigoted information. This makes the act a bigoted one. . If they, themselves, stop PDA's, not relying on the general public, they are acting fairly.

Why did that make the papers? I have never seen, when a heterosexual couple shows PDA, that it makes the news. I do not think, it was because of a kiss here or there, they must have been making out, were they needed a hotel room. I just watched a heterosexual couple when we were watching the sunset at the lake, the guy hand his hand down her pants, a few minutes later it was up her top, I thought it was pretty rude, to do in front of families. I love PDA, if done appropriately, in the right atmosphere.

What's good for a straight couple should be good for a gay couple. Holding hands & short kisses for ANYONE is what affection is all about but ANYONE who gropes each other in public should not be allowed

Why do people carry their PDAs to sporting events anyway? Why can't they leave business at the office?

It depends on what they were doing....There is kissing and then there is KISSING!. I think a kiss or two while at the game is fine, but Making out in front of children at the game, regardless of sexual orientation of those involved is inappropriate. There is a time and place for all things.

As long as they weren't going at it and have sex or anything that most people don't do, then it should be ok. As long as they are hot. No one wants to watch ugly people make out.

Of course it was wrong. If they were merely holding hands and kissing then nothing was done wrong and by asking them to stop was being discriminated against. However if they were making out then they done wrong as I am offended by anyone making out or getting hot and heavy in a public area. Keep that to the bedroom!
