How do lcd screens work?

My pc is connected to my monitor.it is also connected to my lcd tv via a dvi/hdmi cable but although i get a picture on both monitors only my primary selection will work properly to watch films or anything, is it possible to get films on both screens.

    I had the same problem with my laptop. I have an Nvidia driver, though. Is your desktop extended onto the other monitor? If so, whichever monitor is the primary monitor, will be displaying the video. You can change these settings by right clicking on the desktop and clicking Nvidia properties (with nvidia) and selecting which monitor you can use as the primary monitor. If you clone the desktop, the same image will be shown on both screens. This generally tends to happen with laptops, but it is not unheard of with desktop PCs.

This is common with laptops. But I guess it can happen with normal PC's too. Usually you can't get it to go onto both screens at the same time. However, you can just make the computer use the monitor you want to use as the primary one.

There's settings for different configs within the ATI properties, have you tried these. Also sometimes a player like mediaplayer will force the image of the film onto one screen when you go full screen. Im guessing you just need to set it in the ATI control panel, try the different configs in there.

Your going to have to give a little more information about your computers graphics card, ie ATI / Nvidia, that would help with settings. One thing I can tell you is that some players force the single screen while others don't Are you using clone desktop?
