How to reduce redness of a sunburn faster?

How can I heal or reduce the redness from sunburn? I have a bit of redness on my face from being out for a long time today in the sun, and I have a wedding to go to tomorrow! What can I do - in 12 hours?

  • Answer:

The redness of a sunburn is caused from the heat being trapped in the skin. The best thing I have found for this is aloe vera. An Aloe gel from a local pharmacy will work, just find the one with the highest concentration of Aloe. The Aloe Vera has a cooling property to it and will absorb into the skin to cool the heat. It will not take it away in 12 hours but if you apply generously and often, will reduce it in that time.

Other answers

Put an ice pack on your face to help it cool down. Get some aloe vera at the drugstore if you can. If you can't find it, ask someone at the store if they stock the product. Some stores do and some stores don't. You can also find some redness relief lotions, like Aveeno or Eucerin lotions that reduces the redness. You can also put makeup on. Green concealer can nuetralize the redness from your face. Physician's Formula has the best ones.
