I have been told since I was little, before you get serious with a guy see how they treat their mother because the way they treat their mother is the way the treat women. Agree? How do you treat your mother?

I do not agree with that statement. My father treated his mother like a saint. He would do anything and everything for her. He showed her the utmost respect and love at all times. He beat my mother, choked her, cheated on her and degraded her at every opportunity.

Absolute nonsense. He may not be able to stand the sight of his mother for any number of reasons - it does not mean that he harbours a secret hatred for females. It could mean there is just a clash of personalities. Your concern should be with the way he treats you on a day-to-day basis. Of course, you have to apply some common sense - if he was prone to beating the living daylights out of either parent or family member then you might want to ask why. The relationship he has with you should be entirely different to a maternal one and it is down to you, and you alone, to teach those around you, what behaviour is acceptable and what is not. Whatever he thinks of his mother, if you act like a doormat, then you will, more often than not, be treated as one.

I agree. I dated a guy who totally ignored all his mother's requests. For that reason and some others I ended the relationship. I figured he would treat me badly in a few years too.

Quite well! We currently have a great relationship, and pretty much have our entire life.

I've heard the same thing and I don't agree that you will be treated in the same manner as his mother. There are just too many things to consider to make that statement true. I am not a guy, but I adore my mother. She is the most amazing woman I know. :D

i dont agree my s/o's mother is mean, horrible, and manipulative so he obviously isnt gonna treat her well when she says all the horrible things to him iv heard her say and is purposely condescending, talks down to him, and says horrible things about him infront of his 5yr old daughter. but i guess if the guys mother is kinda normal and a decent person it might be a good indicator of how he'll treat you, maybe.

I'm currently not speaking to her. I guess I must be a pretty lousy person. *sigh*
