How do car radios work?

US digital car radios do not work in Middle East. For example, I cannot get 104.2 FM; My car radio gives me FM 104.1 or FM 104.3; but not FM 104.2. How to fix it?

  • Answer:

FM radio stations in the US and Canada are on 10kHz centers: 88.1, 88.3, 88.5 etc. Most of the rest of the world's FM is on 9 kHz centers. Most radios I;ve ever seen, wether fixed or portable, have a switch or a patch that would allow you to "change the offset". Look in the manual or open it up if you are feeling brave. With the power disconnected, of course! Best of luck!
