Go to a math lab. A lot of campuses have math tutors, especially for incoming freshman. Either check with your counselor or the people in the Math department. Now, if your math teacher is crazy, and is refusing to teach because you should be able to figure it out for yourself, then they are likely to put questions on the test that are not in the textbook anyway, so I would begin by putting my head between my knees and praying for a "Hail Mary" pass.
