What do I need to do to switch to digital TV?

Do you need a antenna on your house to make the new converter box work for the new digital switch over? I sent for the coupons, but now I don't know if they will work. Had cable thru someone else. Now they are moving and I will lose my TV signal.

  • Answer:

Where I live, yes I should have an outdoor antenna on a mast. I rent and do not want to argue with the landlord about the legalities of it all. I use a Terk indoor HD antenna. The reception is not that bad. Check with antennaweb.org or tvfool.com to find out what kind of antenna you might need.

You can get channels with rabbit ears and a converter box.

Depends on how strong your signal is. You will need a converter box if you are going to get the signal directly from the station. Local stations should come in with the use in indoor antenna. Further stations may require one on your house. Subscription to a serivce for your signal will solve your problems. That will not be free, but will give you many more channels than you can get with your own antenna of any type.
