Why cant my laptop find my router?

I have a wirless network set up on my home desctop using a wirless router. when i use my laptop to search for networks and i cant find any? what can i do to fix it?

  • Answer:

Is your desktop PC connected to your router? If so, is it connected wirelessly or through an ethernet cable? It may be that your router is set to not broadcast the SSID (wireless network name). To change this you need to edit some of the settings on the router. My Netgear router is by default set to not broadcast the SSID. At first I though it was a dodgy antenna, but I just used my ethernet cable to set up the router properly. What make is your router? Maybe I might be able to help you through the process of setting it up.
