Is there a Canadian discount for the digital box?

In the U.S. on Feb: 2009 they say that analog television broadcasting will go to digital broadcasting. The Gov: has offered to pay $40.00 off the price of a converter box needed for this. What gain dose the Gov: have or get, for offering this discount?

  • Answer:

The government made it a LAW that all TV will switch to digital. This allows for clearer pictures, wide-screen TVs (same shape as most movies), and will free up UHF and VHF channels for emergency personnel and contractors. I think since they made it a law that it change, they figured they could take some of the sting out of it by offering the coupon.

I don't know. However, only those who don't have cable service need to do anything. If you have cable service, you need do nothing. Since there is no choice , maybe this is meant to be helpful. Certainly cable costs a great deal more than one $40 fee. Happy Tuesday! :)
