What form would I use to record my volunteering?

I need to create a search button for my database so that I can enter a surname and have it open a form with only that record in it. I don't want to use a combo box because I don't want users to be able to see all the surnames. Help?

  There is already a search button on the Form View toolbar - it looks like a pair of binoculars. Select the field that you want to search and click on it. You can duplicate the button on your form using a command button. To filter the data to show only the surname you need use the toolbar Filter by Form and Apply Filter buttons. You can duplicate these buttons on the form itself by using two command buttons, but I think your users would find that more complicated than using the toolbar buttons.
