What is the best fertilizer for indoor mushrooms besides manure? I'm using liquid culture to inoculate spawn bags in perlite/vermiculite, bird seed and water. Compost seems to be made with manure. Suggestions?

Answer:
Try a fish emulsion fertilizer or a compost made from chicken manure. Chicken manure has the highest nitrogen rating of any animal manures. Make sure the chicken manure is cured as it is a very "hot" fertilizer and will burn anything if it is too fresh.
