What does help a runny and stuffy nose?

My cat is sneezing snot and she has runny eyes and a stuffy nose.what can i do to help her especially her stuffy nose she can't breath. I've already looked at other illnesses. I can't bring to the vet and she's been like this for 2 weeks now HELP!!!!!!!!!

  • Answer:

It sounds like she has a cold or the flu. Cats get both and they can be fatal. You need to take her to the vet so he can perscribe an antibiotic. She won't get better on her own. Two weeks is a very long time. Please try to get her to a vet asap.

This sounds like an upper-respiratory infection--get her to the vet asap. This is serious and 2-weeks is much too long.

Same as above, take her to the vet but Don't give her people meds, tylenol will kill a cat.

Sounds like cat 'flu. Why can't you take the cat to a vet. If it does have cat 'flu you will HAVE to take it to a vet or there is a chance it may die. It is also very contagious to other cats.

Bless you for trying....please don't listen to some of the folks saying if you can't afford it, don't keep it. That is a terrible thing to say. Don't DUMP it off at the shelter, as suggeested. This time of season the shelters are full of cats with respitory infections which will certainly be put down. (there are too many for them to care for). I visited our shelter today and the "sick" room was overloaded with cats, kittens with respitory infections, just a bad time of the year. I agree over the counter drugs won't work but anything else you can do can't hurt. I would inquire at the shelter and get their advice. They can probbly put you in touch with a nonprofit group or a vet who can give you free medical advice and medicines. The shelters are willing to help, they just need manpower...and will support you. I know ours does. Don't give up, just ask for help by the right person. Again, you are wonderful for trying and I am sorry you get berated by folks who think they know it all.......

you have to take the cat to the vet...that could be life threatening if you dont.

Sheepingly needs no handy men only hugs

just go to 1800petmeds.com and order an antibotic called: Clavamox (Pfizer Animal Health) What is the most important information I should know about Clavamox: Give all of the Clavamox that was prescribed for your pet. Symptoms may begin to improve before the infection is completely treated. What is Clavamox: Clavamox is a penicillin like antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body. Clavamox is a prescription medication available as 62.5mg, 125mg, 250mg and 375mg tablets and 62.5mg/ml drops. The usual dose of Clavamox in dogs and cats is 6.25mg/pound every 12 hours. Clavamox can be used to treat many different types of bacterial infections such as respiratory, ear, urinary tract and skin infections. Clavamox may also be used for purposes other than those listed. When they ask for the vets # to verify give them a friends number and have them verify. I have done it tons of times, it is not illegal. if you have questions about the dosage just call your local SPCA and tell them you got the medication from online cause it was cheaper but you dont know how to give it, they will help you over the phone!!!

It sounds a lot like the upper respiratory infection my youngest cat had when we adopted him from the Humane Society. Sounds like she needs some Clavamox. Please try to take her to the vet...she needs medication.

redcatt63 is around here somewhere......

If you have an albuterol inhaler give her a puff of that. You rig up a Dixie cup, put it over her face and puff it. Also, a few doses of prednisone will help. Feline asthma is fairly common and this is the season for it.
