How do you get a video you make on Windows Movie Maker onto Youtube?

Tried to make a video for fun to put on youtube using windows movie maker, but couldnt add music due to protection copyright. How can i get around this legally besides writing to the music company and asking for permission?

  • Answer:

If you video was about different styles of music and you used a short clip as an example, it's legal. However, if it's the background theme music, that's different. It sounds like you want it for background. I'd say the only way is to get permission. There is one caveat though: if you aren't going to profit from the video in any way, you probably can get away with it. Even if they do object, you can just say "Oh, OK. Sorry" and remove the video. However, to do that you have to get around the software DRM checks. I'd suggest getting the music ripped by someone and turned into a plain old .wav file. P.S. You're using Vista, aren't you?
