How do you slide your foot up in a Ollie?

When I ollie, I place my board on grass but the tail so it pops on pavement. When I start the pop, i kind of slide my foot up, and my back foot is barely off the board. I dont know how to make it so my board is air-borne. Any help on how to fix this?

  • Answer:

Slide your front foot ALL the way up the griptape, till you reach the front bolts (don't hit the nose or you'll kick your board away, obviously). You should be dragging your foot a bit upwards, not flat across or you'll push your board down. And you should be lifting your back foot, if you don't the back of your board won't be able to rise and you'll be stuck on the ground. What I do is try to jump OFF the tail, so that JUST as the tail smacks the pavement, you should already be beginning to fly up into the air, lifting your legs to bring your board (and allow it to rise) up with you. Go to YouTube and search 'slow mo ollie' if you think it will help. It does help knowing how the trick is meant to look like and been able to visualise it in your mind. other than that, you just have to keep practicing till you have your timing right.

Check this how to olie video out: http://video.about.com/skateboard/How-to-Ollie.htm Also you have to squat low and as you begin to come up kick down on the tell and jump sliding your front foot up the board and while you are in the air bring your knees up as high as possible. Lot's of practice.
