How do you find a hidden camera?

How does flickr find out what camera we've used for that certian picture we posted? Is there a hidden text in the shots :P

  • Answer:

Just to add a little to CW's excellent answer, virtually all digital cameras save their pictures in a special kind of jpg file called exif, which saves not only the camera model, but all sorts of other information such as aperture, shutter speed, whether flash was used, focal length of the lens. atc.

Other answers

The camera tagged the photo when you took it. You can see the tag yourself in Windows Explorer (if it's filled in) by opening the directory where the photo is stored and Viewing the list in "Detail" mode. If "Camera Model" isn't already showing, then right click on the list of fields displayed "Size", "Type", "Date Modified", etc., and select "Camera Model" (in Windows XP), so you can see what information is already stored about your file/s.
