How can you sell a refrigerator in Alaska?

According to infoplease.com: "In 1867, Russia sold Alaska to the United States for $7,200,000." How much do you think Alaska is worth now? Do you think the Russians regretted their decision to sell Alaska to the USA?

  • Answer:

Those commies stew over it every day, I bet. HAH! William H. Seward was either a genius or darn lucky. Maybe he just liked a good fur coat.

I think the Russians regret Czar Alexander's sale very much. But sorry, guys, it is a done deal. And Alaska is certainly worth a few more bucks now that when Secretary Seward make the great buy in 1867, even though many Americans scoffed at the purchase. "Walrussia", and "Seward's ice box" were some of the terms used. Good work, Seward.
