Answer:
Oh look, this question is now in the reckless driving category. Just like magic :) Not good. That is 30 miles over the posted speed limit and very dangerous to yourself and to others. It is unlikely that it will get dismissed. A judge may be willing to reduce the charges provided you complete a driver improvement course. I don't think you need a lawyer since the case is fairly straightforward. Just slow down in the future :)

I have consulted my magic 8 ball and I do not see a dismissal in your future. A lawyer is expensive and you will still lose. You are lucky that you just got cited, I would have taken you to the juvenile detention center for driving like that.

The first thing you need is to grow a pair and take your lumps like a man. The only thing getting a lawyer will do is lighten your wallet. Your license is probably toast for another year or two. It will give you time to contemplate how much cooler it is to drive like a person with a brain than to ride shotgun with mom or dad (who, no doubt, are so impressed with you, if you've told them yet).

ok ok I would like to retract my previous statement towards jackpipe 30, my apologies...didnt mean to be hasty. As for fearfulkitty, I apologize if i offended You in any way. I now understand that I was just being a 16yr old guy when I pulled that stunt and i really wasnt thinking. My parents have taken my liscense permanently as for now (by the way). Anyways to anyone I may have offended I apologize. Im just a kid looking for a few answers. Also, Andy Ninja...I apologize for what I said and thanks for the tip. Thanks to all who answered my question!!

You will definitely need a lawyer, because 30 miles over is a hefty charge. Prior to the court date, you should go to a driving school and take a safety class. If you do this and obtain a certificate, the judge may reduce your fine. The only other advice I can give to you is this: don't speed, and if you do, don't do it in Mecklenburg County. It is a very poor county, so their primary source of revenue is through traffic tickets. Consequently, the courts aren't very merciful with people who speed.

Wow, 30 miles over the speed limit. Chance are a big NO. Maybe if it were only 5 or 10 miles over, but 30 miles really is reckless, you could have seriously hurt yourself or someone else if you had been in an accident in a 45mph zone doing 75. In some area's you can take a defensive driving class -- here it's a 1 day thing-- and sometimes that will give a better impression to the judge and he may reduce the fine & maybe no points on your lic.

you can try to get it dropped but 30 over is HUGE. Pray they don't take your driving license away since you are only 16 just to make an example. Your best bet is to get a lawyer on this one. If you can't aford one just ask the DA if they can reduce it and then when you are called in front of the judge as for a PRAYER OF JUDGEMENT. Good luck P.S. It will probably go on your insurance so be prepared to pay extra for several year. LIVE & LEARN & try not to make the same mistake twice.

For your first traffic violation, you received the golden ticket. Reckless driving is a serious charge. it will reflect on your drivers license and auto insurance for a long time. But, all is not lost. since this is your very first violation, you may qualify for the defensive driving class. in order to do so, you must have the citation reduced to speeding. If you have not told your parents, do it now. they will be able to help with an attorney. and, after all, your parents are footing the bill for your license and insurance, so i hope you told them first. An attorney can possibly ask the court to reduce the citation to speeding. all of this is going to be costly, so expect to pay your parents any way you can. I hope this has been a valuable lesson for you.
