Will you have a live Christmas tree? I love live trees but they make such a mess. Convince me a live tree is worth the effort.

Answer:
Yes, the smell is so wonderful. The artificial smell is not even close. Plus I feel like they make my house happy. The needles are work and the watering is work so you just need to buy a stand that holds a lot of water (1 gallon at least) and have a big tree skirt. I hope you get one.

The aroma!!! Get one of those giant bag thingies that you put around the base of the tree when you set it up then pull up the bag to remove th tree. Saves the mess out bound anyway. If you mean live as opposed to real- but-cut make sure to take the bag off right away

I plan on 2 artificial trees and 2 live trees this year. The artificial trees will be for the downstairs front windows. I'm letting the local high school seniors decorate them in their school colors. (Blue and white). I've bought 2 4.5 food blue trees for them. I'll have a large live tree in the great room and a smaller live tree in the landing area. Live trees ARE worth the effort IF you truly do love the smell and experience. If not, go for the artificial. When you truly enjoy something, you don't mind the extra work and trouble. (I always get a living tree that has a root ball because something dead and/or dying in the house gives a bad aura to the home -- while something alive gives warmth and life to the home.

We bought an imitation 8 foot tree for £100 about 8 years ago and its lasted fine. This year in the Uk for some reason the freshly cut trees are going to be very expensive. The fresh tees always leave so much mess with falling pine needles.

No - We had an artificial one for about 18 years and last year bought a new one. We splashed out and got an expensive one - If we keep this one 20 years it won't have been expensive in the long run.

A live tree (in a pot to be planted outdoors in the spring) would not make a mess. A dead tree makes a mess! Try getting an actual live tree!
